Wall Decorating (without a lifetime of regret)

So sorry for the radio silence you guys- life has been so busy! I’m finally sitting down and catching up on blogging while Ava is napping.. let’s see how long I actually get to “work!”

I wanted to do a quick post about some ideas I had for people renting or people who are not wanting to put permanent “things” on their walls (bedrooms, nurseries even living areas). In our home we decided to use renters wall hanging hooks and removable stickers for pretty much everything so we wouldn’t have to commit to a lifetime of something (or holes everywhere) or have the need to re-paint a wall or room (because seriously who has the time). We rented for about 2.5-3 years so everything was “temporary” and that has very much translated into now- even though we own our home.

While I’m not game enough to do the wallpaper thing (I have many friends who do and they do it well!) I wanted to share some ideas for those who are okay with wallpaper or painting- there are so many amazing ideas out there- I couldn’t help myself.

Now that I’ve got that out of my system and I’ve reassured myself that:

  1. I would completely botch putting wallpaper up because I lack a lot of patience
  2. Greg would kill me for putting wallpaper up
  3. I can’t justify spending money on something that I will probably botch and told off for..

Here are some great ideas for temporary wall decor!

Kids Playroom Makeover

After thinking about it for a few weeks we finally took the plunge in turning our guest room into a playroom for Ava! The couch that’s in the playroom is a double bed so we can still have guests etc.

The room is not completely finished but It’s good enough for now! Ava loves it!

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money I recommend searching through your local sites like Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace. I had a lot of the items for the playroom already, but what I did purchase I bought from FB Marketplace or Gumtree for a fraction of the price!

Peony Garland DIY

Ava’s room is my favourite room in the house- not because it’s perfect, or has a beautifully designed symmetry to it, but because it’s her room! I try everything within my power to make it something that she loves! This was my latest project for room! I hope you love it!

I bought two bouquets of peonies and a roll of twine from House 2 Home, Moorebank and simply tied each peony a short length from the next one.

Greg hung this for me from the canopy we already had in her room.

I am loving it!

A flare for the dramatic..

A few months ago I wrote a post about Ava’s nursery- we decided to go with pastel’s and whites.

dsc_00541If you have seen our house you will notice that I definitely like whites and neutral colours. Our lounge-room and dining area are very Scandinavian- grey couches, timber and white dining set, white walls etc. Everyone has warned me that keeping our walls white is going to be a challenge when Ava gets bigger!!

While I love neutrals, I’ve recently come across a few nursery’s that are dramatic to say the least! I have to admit they are incredible even though they are totally opposite my normal style!

Below are some of my favourite’s I’ve found- maybe for our next baby I will be become a bit more adventurous with the nursery!!
